CPR Classes

The Berkeley Medical Reserve Corps believes that large-scale instruction of the campus community is vital to improving response to urgent medical emergencies such as heart attacks and obstructed airways.


Therefore, we offer high quality, low-cost CPR classes to Berkeley community members.


Classes are taught by volunteer certified CPR instructors. Our current schedule of classes can be found here. The classes we offer are as follows:


AHA Instructor-Led Basic Life Support Training (AHA BLS CPR):

$35 BMRC Affiliates or Groups of 10+, $45 Other


The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Instructor-Led Course is a single 5-hour class designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking. Students will do hands-on practice of one-person and two-person rescue CPR for adults, children, and infants. At the end of the class, students will take a hands-on skills tests, and a written test. Upon successful completion, this class will award students an American Heart Association BLS certification card valid for 2 years.


AHA Instructor-Led Basic Heartsaver CPR AED Training:

$35 BMRC Affiliates or Groups of 10+, $45 Other


The Heartsaver AED course is a single 3-hour class that will teach community members to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies. Students will learn the warning signs of heart attacks. They will practice performing CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) on adults, children, and infants. They will learn to recognize choking emergencies, and how to intervene. Lastly, they will learn to recognize opioid emergencies. At the end of the class, students will take a hands-on skills tests. Upon successful completion, students will be mailed an American Heart Association CPR certification cards valid for 2 years.
