Stop the Bleed

Stop the Bleed is a national campaign to empower bystanders to help during a bleeding emergency. In this course, you will be taught how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly to control it with 3 different techniques. After a brief lecture, BMRC instructors will teach you these hands-on skills in small groups, using manikins and special materials. You will practice (1) applying direct pressure, (2) packing a wound, and (3) applying a tourniquet. Victims of severe bleeding can die within several minutes if no intervention is taken to stop bleeding. Taking the Stop the Bleed course will enable you to take life-saving action if an emergency arises.

The BMRC offers Stop the Bleed classes free of charge. Classes can be taught in either 60 or 90 minutes depending on the class size.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is performed on people who have stopped breathing and do not have a pulse. Immediate and effective bystander CPR can mean the difference between life and death. CPR and AED administration are skills that can save a life. In our CPR course, BMRC instructors will teach you these skills through lecture and hands-on practice.

You may opt for either the:

  • Heartsaver course: a 3 hour class that is well suited for general members of the community

  • BLS course: a 5 hour class geared towards health professionals

These are offered for $50 per person or $40 per person for groups of 10 or more.
